Upgrading WinRoam from
an older version
Where do I set username and password for WinRoam when I connect to my
desktop PC?
When you connect
to your desktop PC from your device, WinRoam prompts for a username and
password. Those are the same information you enter when you log in to your
desktop Windows PC. If you do not have a user account on your desktop, you
need to create an account using Control Panel->User Accounts.
Why
did I fail to log in using my desktop's default username?
Windows 2000/XP
requires a password for the user account when you log in remotely, as in the
case when you connect from your device using WinRoam. Often, Windows default
account does not have a password. To solve this problem, go to Windows
Control Panel->User Accounts to create a password
for the username you use.
Why did I fail
to log in using a new user account?
your newly created user account from the console at least once before using
WinRoam to connect. Windows creates appropriate profile information and
folders for a new user when you log in for the first time. WinRoam relies on
such information when connecting to the desktop.
Does WinRoam run
on Windows Mobile 2003 devices?
WinRoam version 1.1.0 is compatible with Pocket PC 2000/2002 and Windows
Mobile 2003. If you have installed an older version, you need to upgrade
to the v1.1.0 WinRoam.
Do I
need to install the Microsoft High Encryption pack for Windows Mobile 2003
PDAs in order to use WinRoam?
No, you do not need to.
Windows Mobile 2003 operating system includes the high encryption pack.
Missing
MSVCRTD.DLL and WinRoam server does not run.
MSVCRTD.DLL is a Microsoft
Visual C++ runtime library that the program uses. This .dll is installed
when you install a number of Microsoft applications on your PC, but from
time to time, we do find machines that do not have this file (version
1.0.2 will come with this .dll).
You may download
it from here and place in your Windows system folder (e.g.,
C:\windows\system32 for Windows XP), then start WinRoam Desktop from the
Start menu again.
Download MSVCRTD.DLL
Another place to find information and download this library is at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/servicedesks/fileversion/dllinfo.asp&fp=1
You may fill in the file name field with "MSVCRTD.DLL"
and then click "Submit".
If you use WinRoam
1.0.2 or newer versions, MSVCRTD.DLL is included in the setup file.
